| Thomas R. Hester, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Hester's responsibilities at Somera include management of accounting and internal control functions and financial management, tax compliance, investor reporting, internal operations, and portfolio management for Somera’s sponsored real estate equity funds and REIT businesses. Mr. Hester has more than 20 years of institutional real estate experience serving pension plans, developers, financial institutions, REIT's and both public and private advisory and investment firms. Mr. Hester was previously a consultant and independent fiduciary for the California State Teachers' Retirement System, having represented both Westwood Consulting Group and The McMahan Group, where he was also its Managing Principal, in their respective evaluations of commingled funds and joint venture investments for the pension plan. From 1987 to 1999, Mr. Hester served Kenneth Leventhal & Company (later, E&Y) where he was a Senior Manager leading a variety of finance-related engagements including capital structuring, valuation, best practices, and investment feasibility. Mr. Hester is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association. Mr. Hester received a B.S. degree in Business from San Diego State University and completed M.B.A. studies with an emphasis in accounting and finance at UCLA’s Graduate School of Management. Mr. Hester is a member of Somera’s Executive Committee. |
