Mr. Herthel currently serves as Executive Vice President and Portfolio Manager, responsible for implementation of asset business plans, investment financing and disposition, and supervision of joint venture partner relationships. Mr. Herthel also directs acquisition and development activity for the western United States and serves as a voting member of Somera’s Investment Committee. He has been active in the commercial real estate business for 15 years and has been directly responsible for approximately $1.5 billion in transactions. Prior to joining Somera, Mr. Herthel served as Vice President for Tamkin Development Corporation where he was responsible for business development and acquisitions throughout the United States. Mr. Herthel began his career and spent more than eight years with AEW Capital Management, LP, a leading institutional real estate investment advisor with over $43 billion in assets under management. While at AEW, he served in various capacities including Assistant Vice President for acquisitions and asset management throughout the western United States and as Associate for a series of real estate private equity funds dedicated to providing growth capital for REITs and real estate operating companies. Mr. Herthel received a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Business Administration, with an emphasis in Real Estate Finance and Development, from the University of Southern California in 1997 and a Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Management from The Marshall School at the University of Southern California in 2006.
