Who We Are

Originally known as Somera Real Estate Group, the firm was founded in 1994 to facilitate investments by a family office into an array of real estate opportunities from profits generated in several operating companies.  As the portfolio developed, founders David Brown and Steve Firestone wanted a more structured and direct platform, so they formed Somera Capital Management in late 1997.  This new direction provided for enhanced management and the inclusion of similar, like-minded families to share in the company’s investment opportunities.

Somera Capital Management, led by Senior Managing Partner David Brown, whose real estate investment experience extends back to 1983, enjoys a proven track record of sourcing quality projects that preserve invested capital through thoughtful asset plans that emphasize distributable cash flow to our investors.  With more than two decades of experience in achieving attractive risk-adjusted returns, Somera seeks to identify market trends and unique situations that provide investment opportunity in diverse regional markets across multiple sectors. This practice has led to more than $2 billion in transaction volume through more than 120 separate investment ventures.

Today, Somera continues to invest our principals’ and investors’ capital and actively manages more than two dozen projects in a portfolio valued at more than $650 million. With a conservative leverage profile, stabilized asset plans provide consistent cash flows that continue to generate attractive returns to our investor partners.
